About
About this site
A newspaper in looks only. What we publish are explainers.
Purpose
Market research reports are bought, quoted and cited every day, often by people who have never been shown how to read one. Headline figures travel far beyond the documents they came from. This site exists to help readers understand how those documents are put together and how to question them: what a CAGR does and does not tell you, how segments and regions should add up, what a methodology section ought to contain, and which warning signs suggest a report deserves less trust.
Editorial approach
- Explainers, not news. We do not report on companies, deals or market movements, and we do not publish market sizes or forecasts.
- Hypothetical examples only. Where we use numbers to show how a calculation works, they are invented for illustration and labelled as hypothetical.
- Sceptical but fair. Plenty of market research is careful and useful. Our aim is to help readers tell the difference, not to dismiss the whole field.
- No invented authorities. We do not quote analysts, cite studies we have not seen or present opinions as data.
- Corrections welcome. If you find an error, please tell us and we will fix it.
